About Senja.
I’m Senja (she/her; pronounced Sen-ya), a creative, compassionate, and motivated individual with a deep passion for helping others and a strong drive for ongoing education. I graduated from the University of British Columbia (Okanagan campus) with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2021. Afterward, I spent two years developing practical skills as an employment counsellor in the social services field. During this time, I continued to feel the pull to return to academia to pursue my Clinical Master of Social Work at UBC Okanagan, to fulfill my longstanding goal of becoming a therapist.

Currently, I’m refining my theoretical orientation and honing my counselling skills during my student internship experiences with Moving Forward Family Services and at a large established private practice counselling firm in the Okanagan. I provide person-centered, trauma-informed therapy, strengths-based therapy drawing on narrative theory, psychodynamic theory, and positive psychology. I also continue to teach both yoga and meditation in the Okanagan community and integrate these mindfulness practices into my counselling approach when appropriate.
Outside of my professional life, I can be found enjoying many forms of movement (hiking, snowboarding, weight-lifting, and yoga), engaging in creative pursuits (photography, drawing, and crochet), enjoying time outdoors (camping and swimming), reading, and spending time with my family and friends!
fun fact: all the images featured on this website are from my outdoor adventures over the years!
